Welcome to the Home of the OC Junior Guards

OC Junior Guards is an ocean safety program run by Orange County Lifeguards at Strands Beach in Dana Point, CA. The program teaches students ocean safety fundamentals, lifesaving skills and respect for the ocean environment through a fun and experiential curriculum. Our instructors are certified ocean lifeguards who work on our beaches to protect public safety. They draw from their professional knowledge and experience to teach students how to be ocean-aware, ocean-skilled and ocean-safe.

 

This is a full-day junior lifeguard experience that incorporates a variety of lifeguard based activities designed to build the students' ocean knowledge and skills and teach them about the ocean lifeguard profession. New students are required to pass a swim test to participate.

This is a shortened-day introductory junior guard experience for younger participants that are still building up their swimming skills. Activities are conducted on the sand and in shallow water to prepare students for the next step in JGs. New students are not required to pass a swim test.
